Take It As It Comes

Posted by OM On December - 29 - 2011

Few months ago I started job hunting again, and without much luck I couldn’t find anything. I was trying to stay positive, yet I also started to worry and doubt myself.

As I was searching for a full time job, the idea of freelancing also grew on me. I started reading articles of people working freelance as their full time job, and learning more from a close friend who also does freelance work. I used to think freelancing is insecure and all my free time would go to doing extra work. But suddenly the idea didn’t seem so bad anymore, and I allowed myself to become more open to it.

Within a couple weeks, I got a freelance copywriting job through a friend’s referral. I found it quite fun, both the company and this job was refreshing to me. Few weeks later when this job is almost done, they called and asked if I would be interested to work part time for their company until I find a permanent position. I did have some hesitation, but this time I will not let my conscious mind take over. Instead I decided to do it and who knows what may come out of it.

It is amazing how opening myself up created new opportunities. It’s now been a bit over a month working part time in this company, and I started to receive more freelance work on the way.

During these few months I’ve learned to be patient, stay positive, and just take it a day at a time. And for 2012, my resolution is to be able to enjoy the present, be able to go with the flow, and simply just take it as it comes and enjoy the process while I’m in it.

What Surprised The Dalai Lama Most

Posted by OM On October - 12 - 2011

My friend shared this with me, and I just have to share it here. It’s so true, and unfortunately reminds me so much of my dad!

The Dalai Lama was asked what surprised him most, he said “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

An Inspirational Movie – 3 Idiots

Posted by OM On October - 7 - 2011

I just watched 3 Idiots tonight, it is so good that I must blog about it right away. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such an inspiring movie. It is both inspirational and motivational, with powerful positive messages throughout the movie. The movie touched on friendship, love, mystery, and comedy. I was deeply moved, laughed, cried, all in just 3 hours. It was a joy to watch, and I would like to recommend it to anyone that didn’t watch it yet because it is THAT good.

This movie had many great quotes, my favorite one used throughout the movie is “Aal izz well (All is well).” When you come across any problems in life, simply tell your heart “All is well.”

Another favorite quote was “Pursue excellence, and success will follow.” I won’t go into this and let you watch it, but I’m sure you’ll be very inspired by this quote as well.

Some of the lessons I’ve learned from this movie is to follow your heart and inner guidance, chase your dream and make whatever you love your profession, and fear stops you from moving forward, one should focus on present and not worry about the future.

The movie definitely made me think how some of the messages can apply to my life. I’m a big worrier, so I can relate to the message on fear. I felt so much lighter after watching this movie. From now on, whenever I face fears or worries, I will tell myself the new affirmation I just learned, “All is well!”

Receiving Messages

Posted by OM On October - 4 - 2011

I have lived and studied in the US for a long time, and moved back to Hong Kong for about 10 years now, where I was originally from. It took me a couple of years to get adjusted, and then it was all good. But I do have off and on feelings about this place. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don’t. And recently, I feel stuck here and not liking this place much.

As usual, when I feel unhappy and gloomy, my mind wanders. I started to blame, think of all the what-ifs, and my negative feelings only grow bigger when I pile them all up together.

It was then I got a “message” while I was out this past weekend. My friends and I were having drinks, and I couldn’t help but listened to this guy a table over, talking about his move from San Francisco. He was saying how he misses the place, the people, the pace, etc. And when his friend asked him, “Do you like it here more or back in San Francisco?” Without hesitation, he said “San Francisco.” Then his friend asked, “But right now, are you happy?” He said, “Yes, I believe happiness is in your mind. I already have all the basic things people need and more, so yes, I am happy. Maybe there’s a reason why I need to be here for a while. And perhaps I can move elsewhere later. And like I said, it’s all in the mind, if I’m positive and happy in my mind, then I am happy.”

After listening to him, I felt an “aha” moment. It is a concept that I should already be familiar with, and yet I can’t think of that when I was bogged down with all these negative emotions. I take this as a message from the Universe for me to stay grounded. There’s a reason for everything, and there’s a reason why I am here. I can be happy if I choose to be, and allow my mind to receive this happiness. And probably I need to be more grateful for everything that I have.

For those of you out there, whether you’re having trouble with your career, relationship, or simply like me at a stage in your life where you feel stuck. Do try to open up and listen to your surroundings, you may just pick up valuable messages that can turn your emotions around.

Be Your Own Soul Mate

Posted by OM On September - 16 - 2011
We all want to find our soul mate, but we are so busy looking outward and never stop to look inward. We can be our own soul mate, by learning how to love, and learning to love ourselves.

I have watched most of Savonn Champelle’s videos, but just saw this couple days ago. It has a very good message, and hope it can help you too!

Message #1

“…Seeing the light in others and seeing the best in others, and just sharing your love with other people because you’ll never know a small gesture or kind word can go a long way.”

“Be generous with your love. If you feel like there’s something you want to say from your heart to someone, say it, because you’ll never know what a difference it would make.”

Message #2

“…It’s about the energy, it’s about the light coming from within that enhances everything else.”

“You are your own soul mate. Be your own soul mate. Think of all the things you want in a soul mate and from a soul mate, and then be that for yourself. You have to be that for yourself first."

"When you fall in love with you, the world will fall in love with you, the people will fall in love with you and they won’t know why because they’ll see it and they’ll feel it.”
